Prof. Elizabeth Buchanan to publish ethics case book
Elizabeth Buchanan, Associate Professor and Director of the SOIS Center for Information Policy Research, and SOIS alum Kathrine (Kat) Henderson, librarian at Thunderbird, The Garvin School of International Management, have a contract and are currently working on an ethics case book for McFarland Publishers, the publisher of Journal of Information Ethics.
The book presents scenarios and cases that raise significant ethical issues for the LIS profession. It will include an introduction to ethics in the field of LIS and a discussion of ethical theory in general, professional ethics, and a review of ethical decision making processes. Areas of focus include intellectual freedom, censorship, privacy, Patriot Act, filtering, intellectual property, copyright, ownership, licensing, and the Information Commons. The book is scheduled to be published in early 2008.
