Judith Krug speaks on intellectual freedom

The Center for Information Policy Research (CIPR), the SWITCH Library Consortium, and the UWM Libraries will sponsor Judith Krug for a morning of professional development and intellectual enlightenment. Krug, the Director of the Office of Intellectual Freedom at the American Library Association, will outline the types of academic and intellectual freedom challenges facing institutions of higher education today and address how these affect academic libraries in a lecture, "The 'Interesting' Times of Intellectual Freedom."

The Office for Intellectual Freedom is charged with implementing ALA policies concerning the concept of intellectual freedom as embodied in the Library Bill of Rights, the Association's basic policy on free access to libraries and library mateials. The goal of the office is to educate librarians and the general public about the nature and importance of intellectual freedom in libraries.

Please join the conversation on January 12, 2007 from 8:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the 4th Floor Conference Center of UWM Libraries, 2311 E. Hartford Ave., Milwaukee, WI.
